Bad Axe Historical Society Museums
Pioneer Log Village, located in the Bad Axe City Park, on South Hanselman Street is a complex of six log buildings, each a museum.  Open Sunday's 2 until 5pm, May 27th through September 2nd.  Also open by appointment.

Bad Axe Museum Of Local History, located on the second floor of the old City Hall building at 110 South Hanselman Street.  Tours of the museums made by appointment.  Chapel is available for weddings.  No admission charges.  For more information on either of these, call Ruth Lenehan (989) 269-8165 or Cliff Willet at (989) 269-8325.

The Allen House Museum is a 1902 Dutch colonial home that was built by Wallace E. Allen, the longest serving mayor of Bad Axe, and opened to the public in 2004.  Free admission, for more information call 989-269-7674


Croswell Historical & Depot Museum
Dedicated to Croswell with plenty of railroad memorabilia.  Located on Depot Drive in

Deckerville Historical Museum

Elkton Log Cabin Museum
Located on M-142 in Ackerman Park, it features local artifacts, kitchen and farm implements. For more information call 989-375-2270 (village hall)

Grice Museum
Is located on M-25 north of Harbor Beach.  Three buildings feature a farm home, circa the late 1800's, special exhibits, a barn and a rural school.  Open early June through Labor Day.  Open 12 noon to 4:30pm and admission is free.  Special tours in May for school children by appointment.  Call Elnora Winkel (989) 479-6093 or Myra Pangman (989) 479-3689.



Huron City Museums
Located midway between Port Hope and Port Austin on M-25 at Huron City Road.  Open July 1st through Labor Day, 10am to 5pm, with the last tour at 4:30pm.  Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the State Register of Historic Sites.  Two tours available, "Seven Gables" the 16 room Victorian home of Langdon Hubbard and Dr. William Phelps.   "Village Tour", includes the M.E. Luckhard Museum - The Indian Mission
In the Village of Sebewaing.  Open the first Sunday of June, July, August & September from 2pm to 4pm with a guide available.  Will be open at various times during the Sebewaing Sugar Festival in June.  For more information or special tour appointments, call Jim Bunke (989) 883-2539.


Lighthouse Park Museum
Located 9 miles east of Port Austin on M-25.  Dive museum and Thumb Area Diving Information Center at the location.  Open Memorial Day through Labor Day Weekends, noon to 4pm, or by appointment.  For group information, call Lighthouse Park at (989) 428-4749.




St. Mary's Historical Museum
Located north of Parisville Catholic Church at 4190 Parisville Road, Ruth.  Contains many Indian relics, various antique articles, also many display boards.  For more information call (989) 479-6393, or (989) 479-9114.

Mayville Area Museum Of History & Genealogy
Located a half mile east of Mayville on M-24.  Newly refurbished Mayville Depot, log cabin, caboose, and new Founder's Building.  Open Memorial Day to Labor Day on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am until 4pm.  For more information or special appointment call Marilyn (989) 843-6249 or Frank at (989) 843-5811.

Murphy Museum

Pigeon Historical Museum
Located in the town of Pigeon.  Depot restored to original condition and listed in the directory of Michigan Historical Sites.  Artifacts authentic to the period.  Open June, July & August.  Monday through Fridays - noon until 4pm.  Saturdays from 10am until noon.  For more information call (989) 453-3864 or (989) 453-3242.


Point Aux Barques Lighthouse Museum
Located 6 miles north of Port home.  Exhibiting photographs, antiques and aritifact recovered from old shipwrecks.  It is also home for the Thumb Area Diving Information Center.  It is located in Lighthouse County Park.

Sanilac County Historical Museum
Located at 228 South Ridge, Port Sanilac.  Open from Mid-June to Labor Day.  Open Wednesday through Friday, 11am to 4:30pm.  Saturday and Sunday, noon until 4:30pm.  Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.  Adults $5, Children $2, Families $12.  Tour a 20 room Victorian Mansion, Log Cabin, General Store, Dairy Museum, Carriage Barn, all with many interesting displays.  Guided tours.
