Tuscola County offers a lot to visitors year - round.
Caro offers modern shopping facilities and is home to such annual events as the Tuscola Community Fair, and Old Time Engine and Tractor Show and the Tuscola County Pumpkin Festival in October.More than 60 thousand people use Cass City's 80 acre public park, annually, for activities ranging from walking on the established trails, to picnics, baseball and volleyball games and swimming in the public outdoor pool. Cass City's major event, the Fourth of July celebration is highlighted by a Fireworks spectacular.
Visitors to Vassar will enjoy a leisurely two-mile round trip
walk, bicycle ride or a brisk run along the city's paved, non-motorized rail trail. Vassar hosts its annual River Fest in August. Its annual Pumpkin Roll down Huron Avenue hill toward the Cass River Bridge draws major participation and hundreds of spectators each October.Tuscola County has several boat launch points on Saginaw Bay along M-25 in the Unionville - Quanicassee Area. Besides the assortment of species available to the angler in Saginaw Bay, the Cass River near Cass City and Deford offers great pike fishing.
Fall Duck and Goose hunting is tremendous and some of the best deer hunting in Michigan can be found here. Hunters have a choice of several state game areas including Gagetown and Cass City state game areas spanning both Tuscola and Huron Counties near Gagetown and Cass City. Respectively, the Deford, Tuscola and Vassar state game areas, and the Murphy Lake state Game area east of Millington.The Fish Point Wildlife Area on Saginaw Bay near
Unionville includes 25 hundred acres of manage wildlife area and 31 hundred acres overall. Bird watching opportunities abound during the last half of March and the first half of April. Fall bird watching is limited to roadside observations because of the proliferation of duck hunters throughout the area during the entire hunting season.Historical museums are also located on M-15 in Vassar and in Millington, which is known as the Antique Capital of Tuscola County because of the number and popularity of antique shops in the community.
