On Monday December 28th our dear Lord decided he needed another angel. With family by her side Ruth Marie Gentner earned her wings. Ruth was born to the late LaVerne Gentner and Shirley Gentner (Kanaby) on September 23rd 1952. Conquering breast cancer 8 years ago, she was faced with a new unforgiving cancer and fought a short but courageous battle. Ruth attended Ruth’s Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School until the 11th grade when it closed and graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 1970. She worked in a wire factory in Minden City and in Harbor Beach until their closure. Her last endeavor was working in the food preparation department in Harbor Beach Hospital. Although she wasn’t sure she could ever work in a hospital, it fit her like a glove. She loved it and met a “few” very close friends. Anyone who really knew Ruth knew how big of a heart she really had. The one thing she always would say was “how much she would have loved to be a Mom.” And so as life would have it, that one obstacle wouldn’t stop her. With that she loved her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, and any child for that matter, as if they were her own. She loved hunting in her younger years and loved to plant flowers in the spring. Ruth was dependable, caring, hard working and never missed a day of school throughout her 12 years.
