Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Kinde with Rev. Dave Freeland officiating. Burial will be in the Port Austin Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund. Family of the Deceased

John is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Don (Terry) Couls of Florida, Tracy Couls of St. Clair, MI, Debbie (Norm) Renner of Romeo, MI and Beth (Chris) Baade of Rochester Hills, MI; step-daughters, Linda Tellier of Harbor Beach, Cheryl (Bob) Macabe of Rochester, MI and Judy (Steve) Rozanski of Clinton Township, MI; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Cote’ Couls.

Biography

John Davis Couls, 85, resident of Port Austin, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Harbor Beach Long Term Facility. He was born April 20, 1928 on Mackinac Island, Michigan to the late Ralph and Margaret (Davis) Couls. John was united in marriage to Evelyn Jean Waldrip in Warren, Michigan. He was a member of the Port Austin Protestant Church and the Nature Center of Port Austin. John served in the United States Army and Navy. Before retiring he was employed as a tool and die maker. He enjoyed wood carving and fishing.
