Mass of Christian burial for Alice will be on Wednesday, June 1st at 11:00 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Kinde with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Port Austin. Visitation is from 2-8 pm on Tuesday, May 31st with scripture at 7:00 pm and Wednesday 9:30 to 10:30 am at MacAlpine-Gage Funeral Home in Kinde. She is survived by three daughters: Carol (Lynn) Bess of Bridgewater, VA, Judith (Ray) Guthrie of Bridgewater, VA. and Colleen (Dan) Talaski of Bad Axe, four sons: Patrick (Judy) Gottschalk of Bad Axe, Daniel Gottschalk of Port Austin, Dennis (Julie) Gottschalk of Port Austin and Robert (Pam) Gottschalk of Kinde: 17 grand-children: David (Tina) Healy of Verona, VA, Debbie (David) Patterson of Bridgewater, VA, Michael (Laura) Healy of Harrisonburg, VA, Kim (Jeremy) Wisman of Hinton, VA, Anthony (Jessica) Gottschalk of Bad Axe, Amanda (Paul) Nienaltowski of Port Austin, Megan Gottschalk of Oak Park, Carolyn (Brett) Beiser of Saginaw, Penny (Keith) Ferrei of Monroe, WI, Sarah (Keith) Shelton of Gladstone, Shannon (Josh) Hicks of Fraiser, Tisha (Shaun) Johnson of Essexville, Brandon Guthrie of Roanoke, VA, Adam (Casey) Guthrie of Mt. Alice was preceded in death by five brothers: Joe, Johnny, Frankie, Tony and Edward; four sisters: Tillie, Ceilia, Margaret and Rose.
Alice Gottschalk, 93, of Kinde, passed away on May 27, 2016 at Courtney Manor. She was born in Dwight Township to the late Frank and Hattie (Kreszewski) Lerash on April 8, 1923. She married Daniel C. Gottschalk on June 14, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dwight Township. She was a life- long member of St. Edwards Church in Kinde. Daniel preceded her in death August 27, 2004. She attended the Kinde School System. Alice was employed at Hamill Seat Belt and cooked at Johnny’s Hotel. She enjoyed playing euchre; watching Detroit Tigers, and traveling to Grindstone for ice cream.
