Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, June 29, at Trinity Envangelical Lutheran Church, Elkton. Rev. Mark Voss, pastor of Divine Grace Lutheran Church, Lake Orion will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. Friends and family may call at the church from 11 AM until the time of services Saturday. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Divine Grace Lutheran Church or their choice.
Surviving are two grandsons, Kirk (DeAnna) Walsh and Patrick Walsh both of Pontiac; two great grandchildren, Dara and Samantha and sisters, Leona (Harold) Scharich of Bay City and Ileen Kraynak of Munger. Preceding her in death were two sons, Clifton and Douglas Walsh; three brothers, Henry, Arnold and Elmer Wagner and six sisters, Sophie Yonke, Emma Frent, Frieda Stevenson, Gladys Spiker, Rosina Schark and Lynda Scharich.
Alvena Walsh age 99, of Elkton died Saturday afternoon, June 22, her home in Clarkston. She was born February 23, 1914 in Akron at the home of her parents, the late David and Rosina (Wingard) Wagner. On September 10, 1932, she was united in marriage to George Walsh at New Salem Lutheran Church, Sebewaing. They moved from the Flint/Saginaw area to a farm near Elkton in 1945 where they farmed and raised their family. Alvena worked the Elkton Elementary School as a cook and retired from the EPBP “Laker” School System in 1976 as High School Cafeteria manager with 22 years of service. George passed away December 2, 1988; they had been married 56 years. A year later, she moved into Elkton, and in 2007, she moved to Auburn Hills to be nearer her family. Alvena was a member of Devine Grace Lutheran Church, Lake Orion, a former and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide, Elkton, Elkton Senior Citizens and still enjoyed cooking.
