The Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, with Rev. David Stewart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Grandlawn Cemetery immediately following. Memorials may be made to Bay Shore Camp, Sebewaing Michigan or Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, Michigan. She is survived by her children, Carol (Bill) Moran of Colchester, Vermont, Faye Ignash of Birmingham, Donna (Marvin) Thompson of Redford, Janice (Chuck) Lipp of Lake Jackson, Texas, Ross (Noreen) Voelker of Pigeon, and David (Melissa) Voelker of Plant City, Florida; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Donald Voelker of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Otto, a son-in-law, Duane Ignash, three sisters, and four brothers.
Anita Caroline Voelker, 94 of Pigeon, went quickly to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 after a heart attack. Anita was born November 4, 1920 to William and Caroline (Yackle) Dietzel, and graduated in 1938 from Elkton High School. On June 28, 1947 she married Otto Roy Voelker in Elkton. They were married 66 years when Otto passed away May 14, 2013. She lived her life well to the last moment. Anita earned her diploma from the Hurley Hospital School of Nursing and worked in Fenton as a Registered Nurse. She returned to Elkton, worked at Scheurer Hospital, and met her future husband. Anita devoted her life to her husband and six children and family. She assisted her husband on the family farm where she lived for forty years. Together they encouraged their children to love the Lord and to do their best in life. She kept the family connected by communicating and coordinating frequent family gatherings. Her Spiritual life was the major thread though out her life. She was a faithful and active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Pigeon. Anita was a lifelong supporter of Bay Shore Camp, volunteering in various capacities.
