Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Wednesday, May 20 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Freiburg. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to United Hospice of Marlette. Archie is survived by his wife, Penny of Ubly; children, Sandy Vogel and her husband, Rick, of Ubly, Jeffery Guigar and his wife, Tammie of Bad Axe, David Guigar and his wife, Pauline of Cass City, Laurie Peruski and her husband, Cliff of Davison, Arthur “Butch” Guigar and his wife, Lori of Bad Axe, Bryan Guigar and his fiancée, Brenda Burns of Ubly; 16 grandchildren, Katie & Brandon Plester, Krystin Vogel and fiancé Chad Wolschleger, Jaime Vogel, Josh and Tiffanie Guigar, Wes and Ellen Guigar, Jill and Jeramie Dubs, Jenni & Justin Koglin, Nikki & Derek Guigar, Brad & Kristen Peruski, Chad & Jackie Peruski, Kyle Peruski, Alicia & Ronnie Marks, Aaron & Austin Guigar; 15 great grandchildren, Charlie and Claire Guigar, Evie Dubs, Bo Koglin, Abby, Carter and Ian Plester, Lauren & Adrianne Peruski, Colin & Logan Peruski, Jordan Cameron, Easton, Jaden & Eric Marks; 2 step grandchildren, Erica & Cameron Becker, Alysha Conley; 3 step great grandchildren, Loni, Ethan & Miley Becker; his brothers and sisters, Virginia Widdows of Port Huron, Betty Preston and her husband, Chuck of Clinton Township, Marvin Guigar of Detroit, Arlene Barber and her husband, Harry of China Township, Eugene Guigar and his wife, Mary of Ubly, Darrell Guigar and his wife, Linda of Bad Axe, Randy Guigar and his wife, Shari of Ubly; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Norman; one brother-in-law, John Franzel; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Guigar and Bonnie Rumptz and her husband, Wayne.

Biography

Mr. Arthur “Archie” W. Guigar, 77 of Ubly, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City. He was born on March 24, 1938 in Cass City to the late William and Margaret (Kulish) Guigar. He married Penny Franzel on May 31, 1958 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg. Archie grew up in Austin Township and graduated from the Freiburg Country School. He then attended Ubly High School for two years. He was a parishioner at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg all of his life. After Archie retired, he liked to sit on his back deck and watch the wildlife with his four legged best friends Kita and Buddy. He enjoyed his International tractors. Archie enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He truly cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, encouraging them to get into as much ruckus as they could.
