Funeral Information

Funeral Mass for Bernice Polega will be on Friday at 12:00 noon at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 to 11:30 am on the morning of the funeral at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Family of the Deceased

Bernice is survived by a daughter, Caroline Witzke and her husband Lee of Bay City; two sons, Duane and friend Tami of Porterfield, Wisconsin and Dean and his wife, Angle of Freeland, MI. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Cherie (Bob) Swick, Sheila (Kevin) Tomlinson, Rod (Linda) Butch, Shiolohe Polega, Zachary (Delvinia) Polega, Anita Maykowski, Ashton Polega, Cameron Polega and Dalton Polega and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother; Eleanor Zimpkoski, Virginia Polega, and Leo Zimpkowski.

Biography

Bernice E. Polega, 85 of Bay City, formerly of Bad Axe died unexpectedly Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Carriage House in Bay City. She was born the daughter of the late Albert and Susie (Inda) Zimpkoski on April 12, 1927 in Dwight Township. Bernice and Floyd Polega were married on Janaury 20, 1945 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin by the Rev. Joseph Dudek. Floyd preceded her in death on November 5, 1996.
