Visitation will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will take place privately at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing. Memorial donations may be given to New Salem Lutheran Church or the ALS Foundation. Bryce is survived by his wife, Kay Nimtz; children: Larry (Maurita) Nimtz, David (Kathy) Nimtz and Duane (Lori) Nimtz; step children: Kay Ranzenberger, Arnold Davis, Earl Davis, and Arthur Davis; brother, Weldon “Gunner” Nimtz; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

Biography

Bryce R. Nimtz, age 77, of Sebewaing, passed away Saturday night, January 17, 2015 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Bryce was born January 27, 1937 in Brookfield Twp. to the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Essler) Nimtz. He is a graduate of Sebewaing High School. He was the starting forward for the 1956 state finalist high school basketball team. He also played baseball for the Farmers & Merchants baseball team in Sebewaing for many years. He married Kay (Strahle) Davis on May 20, 1977 at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Bryce was the owner and operator of City Auto Parts/Car Quest for over 41 years. He enjoyed being a volunteer fireman for Sebewaing Township from1966-1992 with three of those years as fire chief. He was a member at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing where he held many board positions. He also worked for Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home and Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing for over 15 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going up north to his cabin.
