At his request cremation was handled by Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde and condolences may be shared on their website. A church memorial service will take place on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Port Austin United Protestant Church, followed by a celebration gathering and meal at the Pasta House in Kinde. Memorial contributions are asked to be made to United Protestant Church, PO Box 129, Port Austin, Michigan

Fred is survived by his wife. Pat, of 61 years. Also surviving are his daughters: Lori (Dahn) Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Lynn (Michael) Harner of Ocoee, FL, Leah (Fred) Bellucci of Fairfield, CN, and Lucynda and Scott Thrushman of Lake Orion & Port Austin: His grandchildren; Lisa Smith and Brad Scott, Nathanial Harner, Kayla Thrushman, Amy Bellucci, Kyle Thrushman, Richard Bellucci and his great-grandchildren, Rayland Scott and Nate Harner. He is also survived by his sisters: Gail Thompson, Lynda Aimone, and Penny Ventlin, we well as several nieces and nephews and their children.

Biography

He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 9, 1938, the son of the late Leonard Athie and Edna Irene (Smalley) Davis. He and his wife, Patricia, were married on October 12, 1957 at St. Andrew’s Church in Detroit, Michigan. An avid Fisherman, he was the Captain and owner of the Miss Port Austin for 25 years. He not only took people for fishing adventures, he also was able to take many shore-bound people aboard for sunset cruises. He owned and operated Thumb Marine for 33 years. He contributed many articles to the Huron Daily Tribune of his fishing exploits and adventures and his book, “Perils of the Fresh Water Seas”, is soon to be published
