Biography

Mrs. Charlene Patricia Bensinger quietly left us Sunday night, December 9, 2018 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe. She was born on February 11, 1929 to Bertha and Freeman Motz. She married Gordon L. Bensinger on June 9, 1956 at the Elkton Evangelical United Brethren Church in Elkton, MI. He preceded her in death in March 26, 2003. Together they raised one daughter, Karen and welcomed her husband, Daniel as their son. Charlene was a graduate of Elkton High School. She worked for many years at the Bad Axe ASC office before staying home to raise their daughter. In 1976, she and her husband opened Buds and Blossoms Flower Shop in Ubly. They eventually opened a second shop in Cass City, before retiring in 1997. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ubly. She loved playing Scrabble and cherished time with family. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, Jared and Kara. For the past 2 ½ years, her great grandson, Clayton James, put the twinkle back in her eye. We will miss her quiet wit, charm and love. Karen and her family wish to say thank you to all the staff at Meadow Lane, where Charlene resided for many years for caring for, loving her and being her extended family when we could not be there. Thank You.
