Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial will be 12 noon on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 9 am until time of service on Saturday, April 30th at the church. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund. Clara will be sadly missed by her daughter: Charlene (husband Jim Mattise) Hoody, granddaughters: Briann Mattise (Zack Emma) and Courtney Hoody-Mattise (husband Eric Chlada); and great grandchildren: Kingston and Carter Chlada. She is also survived by grandchildren: Donald (Kathy) Zimmerman, Megen Zimmerman, Brian Hoody (fiancé Carol Waller), Kerry (Julie) Hoody, Tina Hoody (friend Terry Friedland), Raymond Jr. (Cindy) Hoody, Lori (Brian) Niemiec, Chad Selby, Scott (Nicole) Selby; son in law: Skip (Barb) Selby; her sister: Hattie Zapawa; twenty six great grandchildren and eleven great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Biography

Clara C. Hoody, 97, of St. Clair Shores, formerly of Port Austin passed away peacefully on April 24, 2016 with her family by her side while under Reverence Hospice Care. Clara was born in Bach, Michigan on August 24, 1918 to the late Aloysius and Ida (Rehs) Kosinski. On June 23, 1940, she married Irvin Hoody at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1986. Clara resided in Port Austin until 1995. She moved to St. Clair Shores to be closer to her daughter and family. She was known for cooking, cleaning and her passion for gardening and flowers. Clara was also kind, passionate, forgiving and loving to everyone she met.
