Colleen (Des Jardin) McGee went to be with her Lord in Heaven on September 15, 2017. Colleen was born to Clarence and Alma (Gates) Des Jardin on March 2, 1945. She attended Lincoln 2 Country School (Church school), then graduated from Bad Axe High School. She began working at Huron Medical Care Facility, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother. Colleen moved to Germany to marry the love of her life on January 29th, 1965. Once Jim was honorably discharged for the U.S. Air Force, Colleen and Jim settled into life in Bad Axe to raise their 4 wonderful/spectacular children. Colleen returned to Huron Medical Care Facility where she dedicated her life to the care of the residents. She retired in 2007. That only lasted about a year, before she started one on one care in home for a special lady. She also worked part time as an aide at Scheurer Hospital and drove HMCF residents to and from appointments all over East Michigan. She also continued to volunteer for outings for the residents of HMCF. Colleen enjoyed cooking, knitting (especially Christmas snowflakes), gardening, cards, traveling, reading, canoeing, friends, family and so much more. She was a delight to her friends and family, always willing to listen and help out whenever needed. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, traveling all over to spend a few weeks with each family. Her family always enjoyed the yearly week long vacation at her home in Bad Axe with cook outs, bonfires, swimming, friends and fun. In May of 2016, Colleen was diagnosed with lung cancer. Her family gathered around her to help her fight for her life. Her children were privileged to be able to care for her during that time.
