Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe,MI with Rev. Kenneth Lueke officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe, MI and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or the Family Discretionary Fund. Condolences may be shared at www.macalpinefuneralhome.com

Dale is survived by his wife, Rita; his children, Michael D. (Mary K) Otto of Pigeon; Cynthia Zech of Kirkland, WA, Renee (Tim) Otto Kilkelly of Arcadia, FL and Cathy L. Matthews of West Bloomfield, MI; three step children, Tiffiny Kokotovich of Bad Axe, Nicole Szyndler of Las Vegas and Nathan Wilber of Ypsilanti, MI; his children's mother, Marylyn Otto of Bonita Springs, FL; fourteen grandchildren; sister-in-law Jessie Otto; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence and Donald Otto and a sister, Arlene Mohr; one grandson, Jeremiah Otto and one step-son in-law, Keith Kokotovich, Sr;

Biography

Dale Duane Otto, age 80, resident of Bad Axe,MI passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his home after an extended illness. He was born January 17, 1933 in Pigeon, MI to the late John and Lora (Gremel) Otto . Dale was united in marriage to Rita Dubs on October 23, 1987. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Berne, MI and graduated from Pigeon High School, Class of 1951. Dale served in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1952 to 1955. After being discharged, he attended Central University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. Dale taught school in Almont and Sand Creek before coming to the Bad Axe School District in 1965. He left teaching in 1972 and became an agent for State Farm Insurance until his retirement in 1995. Dale was a very active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Verona Hills Golf Club, enjoyed woodworking and oil painting before his stroke in 2005. Dale was past president of the Bad Axe Lions Club.
