Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, September 29th at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe with Rev. Kenneth Lueke, officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation is from 1 P.M. – 8 P.M. on Sunday, September 28th at the MacAlpine Funeral Home and Monday 10 A.M. – 11 A.M. at the church. She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Charlie) Knuth of Harrison Township, and Karyl (Carl) Murray of Clinton Township; one son Gerald (Amy) Kapanka of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren: Michael (Beth) Boldt, Nicholas Boldt, Kristen (Katie) Murray, Amanda (John) Matteson, James, Nikolette, Jakilyn, and Alexis Kapanka, and Chuck Knuth, Kelly (Lawrence) Andrews and Kasey Knuth; great-grandchildren, Camryn, Andrew and Derek Boldt, Oliver Matteson and Fisher Knuth and Raelynn Barker; sister Carrol (Richard) Zueklke, brother in laws Robert (Rita) Kapanka and Roy (Nancy) Kapanka; along with several nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son Michael; one son in law, Richard Boldt; and brothers and sisters in law Donald and Beverly Kapanka and Chart and Betty Campbell
Donna Jean Kapanka, age 84, resident of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens. She was born on December 27, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Frank and Lillian (Semph) Davis. On September 1, 1951 she was united in marriage to Jack Calvin Kapanka at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Huron, Michigan. Donna was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe, MI and Concordia Lutheran Church in Sarasota, Florida. She was a faithful coffee clutch member and loved camping with the Thumb Bums camping club and with her family. Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a loyal friend to all. She was known to all for her warm smile and kind heart. Two of her favorite pastimes were watching the Detroit Tigers play and watching Days of Our Lives on television. Donna’s rice pudding was legendary!
