Elaine is survived by: 2 Sons-Henry (Diane) DeGrandt of Watertown, Wisconsin and Randy (Marlene) DeGrandt of Curtis, Michigan. Daughter-Sandy (Max) Apley of Bad Axe. Daughter-in-law-Justine DeGrandt of Bad Axe. 3 Stepchildren- Steve (Carrie) Shaltonis of Bad Axe, Patricia (Paul) Prince of Bad Axe and Judy (Pat) Mattice of Bad Axe. Grandchildren-Suzanne, Henry Joseph III, Thomas, Shannon, Kristen, Michael II, Melissa, Jessica, Cynthia, Rebecca, Jennifer, Cortney, Nicole, Crystal and Jason. Many great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by 3 sons- Michael DeGrandt and infant sons, Timothy DeGrandt and Thomas Degrandt. Daughter-in-law-Barbara DeGrandt. Step-daughter-Janet Hutchison. 5 Brothers-Sydney, Harry, Ronald, Richard and Jerry Marks. 4 Sisters- Delores Chamberlain, Dorothy Daum, Shirley Shaltonis and Carol Billot.

Biography

Elaine DeGrandt, age 89, of Bad Axe, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Elaine was born on April 30, 1928 in Bay City, daughter of the late Ellis and Nellie (Coppinger) Marks. She married Henry DeGrandt on August 23, 1946 in Bay City. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1974. Elaine and Henry purchased the family farm from Henry’s parents. They farmed it together and raised their children there. She resided there until the time of her death. The centennial farm has been in the DeGrandt family since 1916. Elaine enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting with her sons, teaching Sunday school in her younger years, dancing and bowling. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Huron Medical Care Facility for 13 years and then enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels for many years. Elaine had a love for animals, especially her current pet Delilah, a miniature poodle. Most of all, Elaine loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
