She was born January 1, 1918, in Sebewaing, to the late Alfred and Clara (Volz) Fiebig. Esther loved collie dogs, animals, gardening, reading, and if so inclined, she would take a turn and play a little tune on the piano. When she lived in Bay City, Ether attended Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Essexville, but after she returned home to reside on the farm in Sebewaing, she rejoined Immanuel Lutheran Church, of which she had been confirmed.
