Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the MacAlpine-Gage Chapel in Kinde. Officiating will be Rev. Donald Stroud of Filion Nazarene Church. Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2013 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at MacAlpine – Gage Chapel in Kinde and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the chapel. Genevieve is survived by three sons, Ricky (Ann) Bowers of Port Hope, Randy (Elizabeth) Bowers of Bad Axe and Ronald (Marcia) Bowers of Bad Axe; one daughter, Roxanne (Timothy) Booms of Almont; one brother, Chuck (Jan) Lane of Marlette and one sister, Alice DeGrandchamp and special friend, Grady Sexton of Walled Lake; a daughter in-law, Tonya Bowers; a sister in-law Colleen Lane; 18 grandchildren, Ricky, Jacquetta, Jarrod, Benjamin, Jeremy, David, Ronnie Jr, Rachelle, Bobbie Sue, Jennifer Caye, Cheyanne Bowers, Caitlyn and Keegan Booms, Mason Lawhorn, Alicia Ney, Nicole Soper, Jamie and Kayne Schinkai; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Boe” Bowers; a grandson, Raymond Bowers; a brother, John Lane.
Genevieve Bell Bowers, age 76, of Huron Township, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Huron Medical Center. She was born April 18, 1937 in Rochester, Michigan to the late William and Gertrude (Smith) Lane. Genevieve and Robert W. Bowers were united in marriage on May 7, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1997. She graduated from Port Hope High School, Class of 1955. Genevieve was a lifelong member of the Filion Nazarene Church and very active in her church community. She served as church treasurer and loved to hold the babies in church. Genevieve was also known for her baked goods and cooking. She looked forward to spending time with her dog Tiny.
