Funeral service for Joyce will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Burial will follow at Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 10 a.m. until time of service. Joyce was a member of the Faith Gospel Tabernacle Church in Bad Axe. She and her husband, along with their family, owned and operated Giovanni’s Pizza for twenty-four years in Bad Axe, Oak Beach and Caseville; she also worked as a greeter at Walmart and retired at the age of 80. Joyce enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with her children and grandchildren, tending to her flowers and plants, praying for everyone and birdwatching. Her favorite bird was the Blue Jay. Joyce is survived by her children: Charlotte (Charles) Hacker-Apley of Bad Axe, Ken Hacker of Detroit, Michael Hacker and his wife, Nancy, of Bad Axe, Larry Hacker of Texas and Debra “Debi†Hacker and her wife, Linda, of Bad Axe. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Caroline Hacker of Bad Axe and Ava Hacker of Bad Axe; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jay and David Hacker; her brothers: Virgil and Wayne Rifenbark and her sisters: Grace Armstrong, Alice Younglove, Eva McMullen, Helen Cove and Virginia Bucholtz.
Joyce was born in Bad Axe, Michigan on April 18, 1927 to the late Albert and Jennie (Schadd) Rifenbark. On January 13, 1946 she married J.D. Hacker. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1988.
