Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Hubert Parish, St. Joseph Church in Rapson. Rev. Robert Howe, pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday from 1:30-9:00 pm and Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Joseph Church only. There will be a rosary recited by Genevieve’s family Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Genevieve is survived by three daughters and three sons, Pauline “Paula” (Joseph) Gucwa, Carolyn (Duane) Talaski, Ken (Gwen) Peyerk Larry (Melinda) Peyerk, Ronald (Cheri) Peyerk, Shelley (Maggie) Morales; 22 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Sobieray. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sally Pasko, Alice Wintergerst and Irene Sobieraj; two brothers, Stanley and Joseph Sobieraj.

Biography

Mrs. Genevieve A. Peyerk, 93 of Rapson, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016. She was born on February 24, 1923 in Cass City to the late Joseph and Valentina (Buckowiecki) Sobieraj. She married Frank A. Peyerk Jr. on September 28, 1940 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2004. Genevieve graduated from a country school. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She and her husband chose to be farmer’s and lived near Rapson most of their lives. Genevieve was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. Her family was her life and she was loved by all who knew her. Genevieve enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and ducks, doing crafts and making the most delicious desserts for her family and friends.
