Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 29, 2014 at 11 am at St. Hubert Parish-Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiating will be Fr. Rob Howe, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Friday November 28, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm or Saturday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. A scripture service will be offered on Friday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe Historical Society or to Clothe-a-Child.

She is survived by her children; Susanne Andreski of Essexville, Frank Jr. (Susan Chirco) of Romeo, Michael (Arlene) Hearsch of Caseville, Elaine (Robert) Wiatr of Manchester, Connecticut, David (Linda) Hearsch of Sandusky and daughter-in-law Grace Hearsch of Bad Axe, 13 grandcildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great –great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son Richard in 2007.

Biography

Ida Berniece Hearsch, 95, of Bad Axe, wife mother and community leader passed away Monday, November 24, 2014, at Country Gardens, in Pigeon. She was born March 3, 1919 in Elkton to the late Daniel and Marie (Leckenby) Krohn. She married Francis J. Hearsch, Sr., on June 24, 1939, in Flint. They moved to Bad Axe in 1946 and opened Hearsch Studio. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was a member and Eucharistic Minister of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Saginaw Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a founding member of the Bad Axe Child Study Club and the Clothe a Child Program. She was a recipient of the Jaycees Distinguished Service Award. She belonged to the Bad Axe Historical Society, Verona Hills Golf Club and the Bad Axe Bridge Club. She was a published author of 2 books; “The Roots, The Trees, The Branches: One Woman’s Memories” and “I Am Jam”, a children’s book about her cat. She traveled extensively and often stated: “I’ve done everything I ever wanted to do.” She enjoyed playing and teaching Bridge, playing golf, boating, bowling, reading, and antique shopping.
