Her survivors include her son, George (Linda) Gardy of Pigeon; daughters, Gail (Rich) Finley of Gilbert, Arizona, Peggy (David) Gunns of Mason and Susan (Michael) Flores of Mason; grandchildren: Jill (Adrian) Hill, Kari Halvorsen, Eric (Jenny) Gardy, Kevin (Sheri) Gunns, Kelly (Aaron) Treiber, Miranda (Joshua) Bliss and Royce Sperry; step grandchildren, Daniel (Rianna) Flores and Anthony (Becky) Flores; ten great-grandchildren; in-laws, Virginia Roeber, Zola Roeber, Sharon Gardy and Bill Gardy; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and siblings, Albert, Arthur, George, and Leona Roeber, and Marguerite Chesney.
Irene Gardy, age 90 of Pigeon, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Country Gardens in Pigeon. Born at the Quarry in Bay Port on January 3, 1926 to William and Mary (Rehbein) Roeber, she attended and graduated from the Quarry School. On July 18, 1947 she was united in marriage to George L. Gardy in Pigeon. They had been married 64 years when he preceded her in death on November 22, 2011. Irene was a homemaker throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crossword puzzles and watching sports on TV. She was a longtime member of the Laker Boosters, and enjoyed supporting the school activities. Irene cherished the times that she could be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Bay Port United Methodist Church.
