The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, November 21 at Holy Family Catholic Our Lady Consolata Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Fr. Christian Tabares will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Juengel – Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. He will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a rosary at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday. Surviving are his wife, Kay of Sebewaing; 6 sons and wives, Joseph (Moe) Eisengruber, Mike (Sue) Eisengruber, Tom (AnnMarie) Eisengruber and Chris Eisengruber all of Sebewaing; Tim (Jennie) Eisengruber, Muncie, IN: Greg Eisengruber (Christina Brandel) Saginaw; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.
James J. Eisengruber, age 89, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe following a 3-week illness. He was born April 9, 1925 in Saginaw, son of the late John J. and Lena (Ort) Eisengruber. He was united in marriage to Kathryn (Kay Walker) on Sept. 6, 1958 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon. Jim had served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He had been a deputy for the Sebewaing Police Dept. from 1952 until becoming the chief of police in 1964. He then was employed at Defoe Shipbuilding in Bay City and accompanied 6 ships to Boston. He had been a machinist at Sebewaing Tool and Engineering from 1973 until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Holy Family Our Lady Consolata Catholic Church in Sebewaing, Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Sebewaing School Board, was a member of the Sebewaing Fire Department from 1952 to 1964; involved in organizing the Sebewaing Sugar Festival for many years and was a member of the Sebewaing American Legion Post #293.
