Services for James John Hewitt will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church, Pastor Jerry Sutton will officiate. Burial will be in New River Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Sunday, December 4, 2016 between 1-8 P.M. or Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the service time of 11:00 A.M. Memorials can be made to the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church.

Family of the Deceased

Jim is survived by four daughters, Shirley (Bill) Bredow of Caseville, Carol Corbishley of Bad Axe, Ruth (Larry) Fell of Warren, Lori (Dan) Schultz of Orange Park, FL.,and one daughter in law Donna (Gary) Ross of Vienna, Virginia. Nine Grandchildren, Leslie (Alex) Sarapu, James (Lindsey) Ross, Charles (Chelsea) Corbishley, Christopher Corbishley, Randall (Tina) Knowlery, Jaimie Karg, Shannon Schultz, Sabrina Schultz and Samantha Schultz. 4 great grandchildren: Evan & Ellie Sarapu, Fischer & Hazel Corbishley. Several nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews. Also by Brother in Law and Sister In Law: Kirk and Mary Lou Powers, Bob and Fran Jelinek and Sister In Law Leona (Harvey) McDonald. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jeanette Marie of 58 years, his much loved son, Gary Lee Ross, special son in law- Bill Bredow and dear sisters Florence Campbell Huff and Ella Mae Becker.

Biography

James John Hewitt, 93 of Ubly, Michigan went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 30, 2016. He was born on June 1,1923 in Cass City Michigan, son of the late James Leslie, and Ada (Tanner) Hewitt. He graduated from Cass City High School in 1941 and went on to pursue careers in farming, auto mechanics and truck driving before his career as an asphalt plant operator for 30 years at Bay Asphalt and Paving, later Pyramid Paving in Essexville. Jim was a member of the Teamsters Union and went on to become a member of the local #324 Operating Engineers Union for 49 years. Jim was a life long member of Bad Axe Free Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Usher, Sunday School teacher as well as other positions. Jim's hobbies included: roller skating as a young man and later chaperoning Church Youth Group parties, farming, gardening, hunting, camping and traveling in a motor home, taking home movies and pictures, playing cards, watching sports and Nascar, spending time with family and friends. One of Jim's famous sayings was "I may not have gotten rich in this old world but I sure helped raise great kids.
