Funeral Services for Jim will be Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 1pm, at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Falls Cemetery. Visitation for Jim will be on Wednesday, from 2-8pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church beginning at 12 noon until time of services at 1pm. He is survived by his wife Emily Smith of Harbor Beach, and children: Lou Buchanan and her husband Don of Phoenix, AZ, Steven Smith of Clinton Township, Denise Lapka of Caseville, Jody Baker and her husband Reid of Jacksonville, Florida, Snady Stephanian and her husband Doug of Central Lake, Peggy Smith of Kalkaska, Tim Smith, and his wife Gina of St. Clair Shores, Tina Daugherty and her husband Mike of Bellaire, and Bill Smith and his wife Dena of Harbor Beach, 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and his siblings: Nora Clor of Sandusky and Don Smith and his wife Jane of Mt. Pleasant. Jim was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren: Zachary Smith, Alex Smith, and William Payionk, and daughter-in-law Virginia Smith.

Biography

JAMES W. SMITH, age 84 of Harbor Beach, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at his home under hospice care. He was born on April 21, 1932 in Flint, to the late James and Clara Bell (Hunter) Smith. Jim and Emily Burkhard were united in marriage on January 10, 1952 in Angola, Indiana. Jim worked at Hercules, Inc. in Harbor Beach, retiring after 44 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and enjoyed woodworking.
