She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard Babcock, one son, First Sergeant USMC Timothy (Erica) Babcock of Tampa Florida; two daughters, Kelly Babcock of Kinde and Sarah Babcock of Port Austin; 7 grandchildren, Halie Allen, Makinley Ewald of Kinde, Aleena Johnson of Port Austin, Keegan, Kaiden, Keelee and Kane Babcock of Tampa Florida. Also surviving are two sisters; Jeanne (John) Cummings of Hemlock and Debbie (Bob) VanDeventer of Saginaw; two brothers, Stephen (Renee) Meyer of Saginaw and Harold (Carrie) Meyer Jr. of North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Matt (Mary) Babcock, Gary (Lori) Babcock and Sam (Joann) Babcock, all of Port Austin; sisters-in-law Martha Babcock of Port Austin Evelyn (Steve) Petker of North Carolina and Alma Moreno Babcock of Caro, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jane is also survived by her very special four-legged, longtime companions, Tubby, Lucy and Lindsey. She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Thomas Babcock and her mother-in-law, Bertha Babcock.
Jane Elizabeth Meyer Babcock, 65 of Port Austin passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015 under the care of Hospice at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe, Michigan, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born on February 24, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of the late Harold and Kathryn (Welch) Meyer Sr. She and Richard A. Babcock were married in the United Protestant Church in Port Austin on August 8, 1974. Jane was a 1969 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. She worked at the Huron County Medical Care Facility as a Certified Nurse’s Aide for over 17 years, where she enjoyed taking care of her residents. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, golfing, baking, and playing cards with her dear friends Ron and Nancy Pochinco. Jane was full of life. She was kind, caring, compassionate, and loved to laugh and make others laugh with her. She gave up her time freely and always put the needs of others first.
