Mass of Christian burial will take place 11 am on Thursday, April 16th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dwight Township with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2 – 8 pm on Wednesday, April 15th at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde with scripture service at 7 pm and 9:30 – 10:30 am on Thursday, April 16th. Joseph is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene; daughters Linda (William) Brown of Kinde, Cindy Scherret of Bad Axe, and Vicky (Mike) Ritter of Kinde; eight grandchildren; brother Richie Matelski of Kinde; sisters Mary Matelski of Kinde, Michalene Champagne of Bad Axe, Josephine Reehl of Bad Axe, Rita Williams of Indiana, Irene Strozeski of Port Austin, and Delores Matelski of Kinde; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy J. Matelski, brother George Matelski and sisters Beatrice Dobson and Margie Harris.
Joseph L. Matelski, 90, of Kinde, passed away peacefully at his house on April 13, 2015. Joseph was born on November 27, 1924 to the late Charles and Rose (Rice) Matelski in Kinde. On November 11, 1951, he married Marlene P. Majeski at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dwight Township. Joe worked at Tower Automotive for forty two years before his retirement. He enjoyed farming, watching WWE wrestling, playing the lottery and spending time with his family and friends.
