In addition to her husband Roger, Judy is survived by daughter, Robin (Michael) Rau of Midland; son, Peter (Jamie) Vollmer of Sebewaing; grandchildren, Piper and Paige; brother, Thomas Eckel of Pigeon; and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Biography

Judith Vollmer, age 59 of Bay Port, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at home while under hospice care. She was born in Lapeer on September 25, 1956 and was the daughter of Gerald F. “Jack” and Susan E. (Snoblen) Eckel. Judy and her family moved to Pigeon from Kankakee, Illinois when she was in fifth grade. She then attended Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Schools and was a 1974 Laker High School graduate. On October 30, 1976 she and Roger Vollmer were married at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. Judy worked at the Lamplighter Restaurant in Pigeon, also the Pigeon Clinic. She recently worked as office manager at Vollmer Plumbing & Heating in Bay Port. An award-winning quilter, Judy was a quilt guild member as well as a member of the “Old Crows.” She also enjoyed needlepoint. She loved traveling, bowling and reading. She was active in Relay for Life, the Fairhaven Township Fireman’s Auxiliary, the Sebewaing Library Book Club and the Bay Port Chamber of Commerce, where she had been treasurer. Her family and her grandchildren were very special to her. Judy was a member of Bay Port United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, where she coordinated funeral dinners.
