The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 23rd at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with Julie Cowie, June’s great niece officiating. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 22nd and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday at MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe. Memorials can be made to the Huron Medical Center Auxiliary. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Meadow Lane Assisted Living and Hometown Health & Hospice for the loving care she received over the last several years. She is survived by two daughters, Dina (Roger) Burley of Fairfax, Virginia and Sallie (Scott) MacGregor of Bad Axe; two sons, Peter (Pat) Hebert of Ann Arbor, and Charles (Andrea) Hebert of Rochester Hills; eight grandchildren, Scott (Melissa) MacGregor of Midland, James (Maria) MacGregor of East Lansing, Erik Burley and Bryan Burley both of Fairfax Virginia, Peter Hebert of New York City, Emily Hebert of New York City, Charles Hebert and Mackenzie Hebert of Rochester Hills; four great-grandchildren, Colin, Finn and Owen MacGregor all of Midland and Preston MacGregor of East Lansing. June was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Peter J. Hebert; sister Aletha Cowie; brothers Walter Sternberg and Harold Sternberg (France, WW II); and a special nephew, Mike Sternberg.
June J. Hebert, 94, of Bad Axe, passed away on February 20, 2015 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe under hospice care. She was born on November 2, 1920 in Bad Axe to the late John and Jennie Sternberg and was united in marriage to Peter J. Hebert on November 30, 1941 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, also in Bad Axe. June was a licensed beautician in the State of Michigan at age 16 and had her own salon in Bad Axe many years ago. She also styled hair in Chicago and San Francisco while her husband served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also loved to play and watch golf with her family.
