The funeral service for Kenneth will be 11:00 am Wednesday, January 28 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly with Rev. Robert Srock officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am. He is survived by one son, Ronald (Connie) Western of Columbus, MI,; one daughter, Cheryl Ventimiglia of Sterling Heights; four grandchildren, Kevon (Marina) Ventimiglia, Lola Danielle (Tim) Hess, Bridgette Ventimiglia and fiancé Jason Lenard, Anthony Ventimiglia; five great grandsons, Lucas and Julian Ventimiglia, Gabriel and RJ Hess, Joshua Lenard; one sister, Beatrice (Fred) Sobieray; sisters-in-law, Gloria Western and Donna Glenn; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ellsworth and Margaret Dunlap; 3 sisters, Nevetta Allen and her husband, Cecil, Florence Schrader and her husband, Verne, June Western; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Western; one brother-in-law, George Glenn.

Biography

Mr. Kenneth Lee Western, 91 of Ubly passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at McLaren Regional Medical Center of Mt. Clemens after a short illness. He was born on January 26, 1923 in Ubly to the late Wm. Russell and Grace (Broomfield) Western. He married Lola Dunlap on June 29, 1945 in Ubly. She preceded him in death on April 8, 1983. Kenneth served in the US Army during WII. He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ubly and a member of the Masons. Kenneth worked at Detroit Edison for 35 years. He loved deer hunting and doing the word search from the Sunday Detroit Free Press. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Kenneth cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
