Funeral service will be at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until time of service. Per Larry’s wishes, cremation will take place after the service at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan. Memorials may be offered to the family discretionary fund. Larry is survived by his mother, Mildred Stanton of Bad Axe; his sons: Aaron Stanton of Minden City, and Todd Stanton of Dearborn; his daughter: Sara Dykes and her husband, Michael, of Armada; grandchildren: Maxwell and Zachary Dykes and Ella Casimiro; his brothers: Bob Stanton and his wife, Sue, of Lapeer, Dale Stanton and his wife, Susie, of Emmett, and Roger Stanton and his wife, Carrie, of Elkton; sisters: Karen Scott of Bad Axe and Kathy Schenk and her husband, Dick, of Bad Axe; sister in-law, Sheri Stanton of Kinde and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Stanton of Kinde and his brother-in-law, Bill Scott.

Biography

Larry “Freckles” Stanton, 68, of Bad Axe, passed away on February 22, 2017 at his home. Larry was born on January 21, 1949 in Bad Axe, Michigan to Mildred (Williams) Stanton and to the late Carl Stanton. He graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 1967. Freckles, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his youth, he used to play Euchre, Poker, horseshoes, and was in many softball leagues. He also enjoyed racing snow mobiles and car racing in Ubly and Owendale. He retired from road construction/ Local #1191 Laborers Union. Larry also helped out at the Kiehl farms.
