Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm. The memorial service will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing at 10:30am. Burial of cremains will take place at Moravian Cemetery in Unionville following the funeral luncheon on Friday. He is survived by his aunt, Maxine Profit of Cass City; sister in law, Edith Beitz of Hedgesville, West Virginia; step sister in law, Lee LaFave of Gagetown; cousins: Lynn (Kathie) Abke of Bad Axe and Sharon (Tom) Campbell of Port Hope and families; dearest friends: Patrick and Amy Gruehn of Owendale, Nathan (Kamryn) Gruehn and family of Sebewaing, Dustin (Brooke) Gruehn and family of Sebewaing; Godson, Jordon (Renee’) Gruehn and family of Sebewaing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Lucille Beitz; step father, Roy LaFave; step brother, Jim LaFave, step sisters: Marge (Sherwood) Rice and Marion (William) Stanton; and uncles, Harold (Madeline) Abke and Dale Abke.

Biography

LeRoy Harold Beitz, age 83, of Sebewaing, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. LeRoy was born in Unionville on April 10, 1931 to the late Clayton and Lucille (Abke) Beitz. He enjoyed being a teacher for close to 50 years. He began his career in several country schools, Sebewaing Schools and for USA Schools. He also taught drivers education. He loved farming and had a huge passion for reading. He enjoyed being outdoors, flower gardening, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, motor cycle riding, cooking and playing the organ. He is also a past Lions Club member.
