Funeral Information

The funeral service is Tuesday, December 2 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh with Rev. Michael L. Tuescher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 1, 2014 from 2 – 9 p.m. at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Sebewaing and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial donations may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice Advantage of Cass City.

Family of the Deceased

Survivors include her children, Arthur Engelhardt, Roger (Linda) Engelhardt, Judy (Ken) Fuerst, Ron Engelhardt, Mark Engelhardt and Doralee (Gary) Schulz; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; Her in-laws: Carl, Roy(Betty) and Ray Engelhardt and Ivadell Engelhardt and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, three children, twins-Mildred & Willard and Robert Engelhardt; a grandson Charles Engelhardt: daughter-in-law Vera Engelhardt: Brothers Robert and Luzern Dickson; and Sisters Agnes Eckstein and Lila Sarber.

Biography

Leola Lucille Engelhardt, age 85, of Sebewaing, died peacefully, on November 26, 2014 at home with her children by her side. She was born on March 18, 1928 in Akron to Robert and Effie (Hilde) Dickson. On June 2, 1945 she was united in marriage to Elmer Engelhardt in Kilmanagh. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1986. Leola worked several jobs for General Cable, Cass City and retired after 38 years. She also worked for Automotive Industries in Owendale. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary # 4115, and the Moose and USA Senior Citizens. Grandma Engelhardt especially loved her family and her grandchildren – “and that’s why she bought a station wagon”. Leola loved her pet dog Mattie, her flowers, feeding the birds and squirrels, and traveling with her dear friend Helen Sefton.
