A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 5:00 pm in the Jowett Funeral Home – 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Inurnment will be at Allied Veterans Columbarium, next to her husband, at a later date. Visiting will be Friday, from 2:00 pm until time of service at 5:00 pm. Memorial tributes can be made to: May O’Brien VFW Post #8465 Auxiliary or Veterans Honor Guard Alliance. She is survived by daughters; Laura Peters of Port Huron, Donna (Tim) Garrettson of Jeddo, sons; Donald (Paula) Wade of Bad Axe, David (Cindy) Wade of Marysville, daughter, Linda (Don) Nuss of Fort Gratiot, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, brothers; Richard (the late Joyce) Schmalz of Harbor Beach, Thomas (Judy) Schmalz of Harbor Beach, Fred (Kim) Schmalz of Roseville, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Wade in 2002 and a sister, Carol Wojnar.

Biography

Lexie Ann Wade, age 82, of Fort Gratiot, passed away on September 23, 2014, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born on December 6, 1931, in Harbor Beach, to the late Edwin and Mary Schmalz. She married Donald D. Wade on April 1, 1950, he preceded her in death on June 1, 2012. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, traveling, spending time with her family and cooking dinners at May O’Brien VFW Post. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
