Funeral Information

Funeral Mass for Lillian Kanarek will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Port Austin. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 until 8:00 pm at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Family of the Deceased

She is survived by three children, Barbara Kanarek of Port Austin, Sharon (Glenn) Wahl of Port Austin and Allen Kanarek of Rafael, California. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Kenneth Kanarek, Frederick (Shelly) Baranski, Robert (Janice) Baranski, Gerald (Susie) Baranski, Julie (Michael) Ressler, Chase Kanarek, and Katherine Kanarek, as well as seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Stepanski, and three sisters, Helen Davis, Sister H. Camille I.H.M. and Leona Newman.


Lillain I. Kanarek,100, of Port Austin died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. She was born July 27, 1912 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Francis and Stephanie (Lipinski) Stepanski. She married Lawrence Kanarek in March, 1935 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Detroit. He preceded her in death in July of 1955.
