Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 22 at St. John Catholic Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Tuesday from 1:30-8:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00-10:00 am. There will be a joint rosary Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm by the Daughters of Isabella and Christian Mothers. Memorials have been requested to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Foundation. Lillian is survived by one son, Ronald (Susan) Kosal of New Hudson; three daughters, Susan (Gordon) Lewis of Bloomfield Hills, Marilou (Tim) Szerszen of Garden City, Donna (Edward) Cieslak of Brownstown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Czarnecki of Caro, Rosemarie Cross of Armada, Shirley (Jerry) Susalla of Warren; one brother, Joseph (Dona) Pawlowski of St. Johns; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Purkart of IL. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Pawlowski; four brothers-in-law, Walter Czarnecki, Arthur Cross, Rudy Purkart, and Richard Kosal.

Biography

Mrs. Lillian “Lee” J. Kosal, 86 of Ubly passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at home while under hospice care. Lillian was born on June 19, 1930 in Ubly to the late Joseph and Susan (Peruski) Pawlowski. She married Eugene Kosal on June 25, 1949 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2009. Lillian was born and raised in Ubly and graduated from Ubly High School. Lillian and Eugene lived in Dearborn Heights for 33 years. She worked as the bookkeeper with Eugene for 28 years at his company, Kosal Construction Company. Lillian was a current parishioner at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was a former parishioner of St. Sabina Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights. Lillian was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for 61 years. She liked to clean, dance, travel, and crochet. She loved cats, especially her cat Pee Wee. Raising her children and doing things for them was one of Lillian’s great pleasures in life.
