Lois is survived by her children Iola Eby of Elkton, Don (Debbie) Hewitt of Bad Axe, Beverly Hewitt of Moline, IL, Gwen Petres of Elkton and Beth (David) Peck of Milford, VA; grandchildren Chris (Wendy), Eric (Christine), Mike, Charnelle, Shane (Nikki), Michelle (Casey), Heather and Damian; great-grandchildren James, Jillian, Logan, Carson, Alexa, Katarina, Adrian, David Jacob, Elizabeth and Camila. She was preceded in death by her father Harry Schwendener in 1939, her mother Hazel Blatt in 1962, step-father John Blatt, daughter Joanne (Les) Stumpf, and sister Eunice Denninger.
Lois F. Hewitt, 97, of Elkton, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Lois was born January 5, 1924 in China while her parents were serving as missionaries. She escaped China before the onset of World War II, settling in Nebraska and finishing school there. She worked at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in the kitchen, in the laundry at Huron County Medical Care Facility, and then after retiring continued volunteering at Medical Care until she was 92 years old, taking residents to hair appointments. Lois was a member of Elkton Missionary Church. In retirement Lois enjoyed riding her 3-wheel bike in Elkton and collecting pop-tabs for charity.
