In accordance with her wishes, Jean will be Cremated at Sunset Valley Crematory of Bay City. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Homer, Michigan at a later date. A memorial service will take place Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2pm at the AmVets Hall in Port Hope. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Memorials may be given to the Port Hope Methodist church, the MMDA, or Mothers against Drunk Driving. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com

Jean is survived by her son, James (Martha) of Dundee Florida, daughter-in-law Maxine of Jacksonville, Florida, 3 granddaughters: Cathy of Miami, FL, Trinity of Jacksonville, FL, and Claire of Dundee, FL, two special nieces, Phyllis and Marily, and three special nephews: Larry, Lloyd and Michael. She had many special friends, her Port Hope Son Gary Schave, Angela, Susan, Brenda, Gloria, Dave, Gayle and Bernie. Without them she would have never been able to live at her home which she loved. She was preceded in death by her son Jerry, 3 brothers: Steven (Jo), Robert (Betty) Don (Francis) and one sister Virginia (John) Hawkins.

Biography

Marjorie Jean Baker, age 92 of Port Hope, passed away Wednesday at Lakeview Extended Care and Rehab Center of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. She was born on August 6, 1925 in Homer, Michigan to the late Milford and Edna Ellen (reynolds) Moor. Before moving to Port Hope in 1956, she had worked 10 years as the office manager for the Superintendent at Homer Community School. She worked 5 years in teh Cable TV Business in Harbor Beach, and 25 years in the Auto Business in Bad Axe and Port Hope. She had been the Port Hope Chamber Treasurer since 1987. She had her own catering business for 38 years, cooking for many weddings, banquets, anniversaries and private parties. She was active in the Port Hope Retirees for many years planning trips for the Seniors since 1985. She and her friends had been to Hawaii 3 times, Alaska 2 times and Nova Scotia once and traveled every state in the United States. Jean enjoyed cooking, baking, her flowers, her yard and helping others in need.
