A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, Sept. 2, at St Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog. Rev. Fr. Robert Pare’ pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday and at the church after 10:00 AM Friday. Memorials may be given to the Aleda Lutz Veteran’s Hospital Activities Fund in Saginaw and words of condolence may be shared at www.cfcelkton.com.
Surviving are four children, Roger Champagne of Pinnebog, John (Jill) Champagne of Elkton, Neil (Colleen) Champagne of Merritt and Karen (David) Lister of Homosassa, FL; grandchildren, Scott (Jeannie) Arnold, Jennifer Champagne, Elyse (Scott) Leach, Benny, Alex, Jack and Mitch Champagne, Janice ( Jim) Rae, Nick (Cindy) Bednorek, Matt (Abby) Bednorek, Jody (Jennifer) Champagne, Brandon Metzger, Sarah (Josh Shaeffer) Lister and Anna Lister; great grandchildren, Dane (Shanna) Arnold, Ashley (fiancé, Paul) Arnold, Ashlynn, Walter, Jaylen, Jenalise, Cody, Bella, Wyatt, Waylen, Oliver, Constance, Rosalyn and a great-great granddaughter, Olivia. Preceding her in death were her husband; a grandson, Aaron; her brother, Herb (Dorothy Jean) Bills and earlier this week, her great nephew, Brandon Bills.
Marjorie L Champagne age 91, of Pinnebog died peacefully, Saturday evening, August 27, at her home with her family at her bedside. She was born January 24, 1925, in Detroit to the late Allen and Olivia (Rader) Bills. She primarily grew up in Detroit but moved to Huron County to live with family following the death of her mother. Marge graduated from Pinnebog High School and returned to Detroit where she attended business school and was employed at Packard Motor Company as a secretary and switchboard operator. She had met John W. Champagne while living near Pinnebog. They stayed in touch and were married November 30, 1946 at St Felix Catholic Church. They made their home in Chandler Twp. and raised their family on the farm. Marge did the gardening, canning, milked cows, was a 4-H leader and worked part time as the house keeper for St. Felix. She enjoyed baking bread, cooking, feeding the kids in the neighborhood, league bowling, going to her several ladies clubs and after retiring, traveling around the USA with her husband and friends.
