Funeral Information

Funeral Mass for Mary M. Johnson will be on Saturday, April 18, 2015 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Port Austin, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8 pm in the Knoblock Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2015 and there will be a parish vigil service that evening at 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be held in the church on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service.

She is survived by her children, Bob (Deb) Johnson, Cathie (Stan) Osdras, and Jim (fiancé Angela) Johnson; her brother-in-law, Thomas “Leo” (Vivian) Johnson; his grandchildren Mark Johnson, Stan (Kelly) Osdras, Katie (fiancé Drew) Osdras, Scott Osdras, Jimmy Johnson, and Devan Johnson. She is also survived by seventeen nieces and nephews. Mary Johnson was preceded in death by her siblings: Edward (Gerry) Walsh, Elizabeth Walsh, Thomas (Gerry) Walsh, Patrick (Irene) Walsh, Cathie (Doyle) Parker, Bernard (Nancy) Walsh.

Biography

Mary M. Johnson, 84, of Port Austin died Sunday, April 12, 2015. She was born on December 19, 1930 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Thomas J. Walsh and Mary Jane Ahearn Walsh. Mary Walsh and Robert F. Johnson were married on August 27, 1949 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Highland Park, Michigan. Her husband preceded her in death on October 24, 2012. She was a graduate of Girls’ Catholic Central High School in Detroit, Michigan. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin. Mary was a Homemaker extraordinaire, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend. She had a special gift for welcoming others-most often with homemade baked goods. No one was ever a stranger-her door was always open. Good-humored and compassionate, she maintained a loving circle of lifelong friends to the end.
