A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25th at the MacAlpine Funeral Home – Gage Chapel in Kinde at noon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 am till time of service. Mary is survived by her husband, Edwin of 56 years; daughters Terry McGrath of Port Austin, and Laurie (Frank) Panzek of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; sons Brian (Jackie ) Korn of Washington, Michigan and Michael (Dree) of Midland, Michigan; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; brothers Jim (Mary) Bambach and David (Leta) Bambach; and sister Lenore (James) Bright. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Terry.

Biography

Mary Doreen Korn, 76, of Port Austin, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2014 at Courtney Manor. Mary was born on March 1, 1938 in Bad Axe to the late John and Lillian (Powers) Bambach of Kinde. Mary married Edwin Korn on April 19, 1958 at St. Edward’s Church in Kinde. She graduated from Kinde High School in 1956, and then attended Central Michigan University for one year. Mary was an art teacher and teacher’s aide at Port Austin Public Schools, owned a gift shop, worked for Osentoski Reality, was the treasurer for Port Austin village, and a treasurer/secretary for the Port Austin Fire Department. She was a member of the Jr. Priscilla Club and enjoyed traveling and golfing.
