Services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11 am at the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church. Pastor Phil Burch will be officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 2 – 8 pm or Thursday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. Michael is survived by his wife, Gina Patterson of Bad Axe. One son, Ethan Patterson and girlfriend Cassandra Wade of Saginaw. One daughter, Nicole Patterson of Bad Axe. Mother, Patricia Patterson of Bad Axe. Sister, Tammy Elenbaum of Caseville. Father and Mother In Law, Gordon and Catherine Miller, Bad Axe. Brother in Law, Michael Miller and his wife, Jennie of Mattawan. Sister in Law, Laurie Miller, of Chandler, Arizona. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His beloved dog, Lady, will miss playing ball and snuggling on the recliner. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Donald Patterson.

Biography

Michael Lee Patterson, age 56, of Bad Axe, passed away on August 4, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, while under hospice care after a heroic battle with esophageal cancer. Michael was born on February 21, 1962 in Bad Axe to Donald and Patricia (Schultz) Patterson. He graduated from Elkton, Pigeon, Bay Port High School in 1980. He graduated from Delta College and Ferris State College with Bachelor of Science degrees in Business. He wrote his State Board for Nursing Home Administration to join the family run nursing home, Sunny Acres, until it closed. In his final years, he trucked cattle for Smaglinski Farms, sprayed for Central Pest Control and helped area farmers during harvest. Mike was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Bad Axe. Michael was a Boy Scout leader. Michael was considered a “permanent” chaperone for the Bad Axe FFA. He loved dogs and trained dogs with Ron Forester years ago. Michael was a scuba diver in high school and fixed many area pools. Michael was a certified Public Water Supply Operator and carried a Category A CDL. Michael valued and cherished his family and friends. Michael loved old Ford Broncos, hunting, motorcycles, swimming, time at the cabin and good cattle discussions with his kids.
