Visitation is Friday, March 22, 2013 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-9pm. The funeral service is Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Just the immediate family will be going to the burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sebewaing after the service. Michael is survived by his son, Michael W. (Lorene) Zagata of Sebewaing; his grandchildren, Kristin (Vince) Bonham of St. Charles, Missouri, Andrew (Bobbie) Zagata of Sebewaing, and Sarah (Baiju) Vasani of Bethesda, Maryland; great grandchildren, Robbie Steff, Maggie Bonham, Vincent Bonham, Karley Bonham, Gabriella Vasani and Sienna Vasani; brother-in-law, Jim Mangiapaine, and loving nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings: Maude Zagata, Ann Mangiapaine, Helen Grupke, Andres Zagata, Joseph Zagata, Frank Zagata and Stanley Zagata.

Biography

Michael A. Zagata, age 93, of Sebewaing, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Courtney Manor Nursing Home in Bad Axe. He was born September 4, 1919 in Sebewaing, the son of the late Andrew M. & Anna M (Joskio) Zagata. He was honorably discharged from the United States Airforce in September 1943. On November 24, 1945 he married Eloise Heberly in Sebewaing. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2004. Michael was a lifetime member of the Sebewaing American Legion Post #293, a member of the Sebewaing Lions Club, former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Octagon Barn supporter, and committee member of the Sugar Festival Church Service at the park. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and traveling.
