She married Harold L. Whear on June 11, 1955. Nettie is preceded in death by her husband Harold, her son Scott Whear, brother Alex Wills and great grandson Fulton Guza. Nettie is survived by her 5 children Victoria (James) Rakowski, Robert (Margarita) Whear, Lori (Ron) Smith, Charlot (Perry) Pfaff, Toni (Ken )Johnson; 15 grandchildren Star Whear, Sandra (John ) Strosnider, Grant (Stephanie ) Rakowski, Joseph (Rose ) Whear, Maitlyn (Tyler) Smith, Perry Pfaff Jr. (Amanda VanValkenburgh), Amanda (Dustin) Poppeck, Jacklyn Rochefort, Samantha (Kolbe) Guza, Hunter Rochefort, Ryan Pfaff, Debra (Lucky) Jose, Scott (Antonia) Johnson, Augustus Johnson, Aiden (Celine) Johnson; 24 great grandchildren Wyatt, Wesson Smith, Jude Rakowski, Bianca, Buddy, Cody, Layla Strosnider, Brannon, Serena Whear, Heath, Sophie, Emmitt Guza, William, Leon Pfaff, Natalie Dondineau, Marissa, Natalie, Nakita, Melanie Poppeck, Lucas Jose, Colton, Arlo, Brantly, Tucker Johnson.

Biography

Nettie Inez (Wills) Whear, 89 years old of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on June 30, 2022. She married Harold L. Whear on June 11, 1955. Nettie is preceded in death by her husband Harold, her son Scott Whear, brother Alex Wills and great grandson Fulton Guza. Nettie spent most of her life in Bad Axe, her beloved home town as a mom, with the exception of nine years in Detroit as a long distance telephone operator, which she still brags that she was able to talk to Elvis. It was in Detroit that she reconnected with an old high school fellow student just home from the Korean War, married and moved back to Bad Axe. Her final years were spent as a “grandma” in the Bad Axe School system which she dearly loved working with “the best teacher she ever knew”- Tammy.
