Olive Balk

Funeral Information

Funeral mass for Olive will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Rapson, with Fr. Rob Howe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for Olive will be Monday, November 12, 2012 from 2-9pm in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Tuesday will be in the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. A Vigil Service will take place at 6:30 pm on Monday in the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband Melvin Balk of Harbor Beach, and children: Melvin Balk of Harbor Beach, Christal Schipinski and her husband Daniel of Cass City, Martin Balk and wife Den of Montana, Garry Balk and his wife Tammy of Romeo, Judith Balk of Minnesota, Cynthia Nowiski of Tennessee, Dianne Mazure and her husband Michael of Jenison, Paul Balk and his fiancé Karen Smalley of Ubly, Patricia Susalla and her fiancé Scott Griffka of Ubly, John Balk and his wife Cindy of Grand Rapids, Matthew Balk and his wife Blanca of Florida, 41 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and sisters: Connie Shaw of California and Mable Stewart of Arizona. Olive was preceded in death by a son Richard Scott Balk and sister Kay McBroom.

Biography

She was born on September 15, 1931 in Kingsford, Michigan to the late Wesley and Phoebe (LaRue) Fournier. Olive and Melvin Balk were united in marriage on September 17, 1949 in Detroit. Olive is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Rapson. She enjoyed sewing, and being a CCD teacher.
