Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Tuesday, March 24th at St. Felix Church in Pinnebog. Cremation will take place after the service. Visitation will be 2 – 8 pm Monday, March 23rd at MacAlpine Funeral Home Gage Chapel in Kinde and on Tuesday, March 24th 10 am until time of service at the church. Raymond is survived by his sons Thomas Guza and special friend Karen of Caseville and Joseph (Linda) Guza of Cass City; grandchildren Carol (Todd) Smith of Cass City; great grandchildren Trinity, Drake, Alex and Jack Smith; brother Robert (Patricia) Guza of Gagetown; sisters Emma Howard of Caseville and Mary (Paul) Grab of Cape Coral, Florida; sisters in law Mary Guza of Gagetown, Theresa Guza of Verona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Philip, Frank, John, Tom, Jerome and Clair Guza; sister Virginia Cracciola; and daughter in law Deborah Guza.

Biography

Raymond E. Guza, 97, of Port Austin, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2015 at Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. Raymond was born on January 31, 1918 to the late John P. and Emma (Kappler) Guza in Ubly, Michigan. On September 2, 1946, he married Thelma Surprenant at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. She preceded him in death on February 1, 2001. Ray was in the U.S. Army in 1940 to 1945 where he fought in the Normandy Battle. He worked at the Port Austin Air Force base as a carpenter from 1963 to his retirement in 1979. Ray enjoyed hunting, shooting, and collecting antique engines and tractors.
