Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Active pallbearers for Mr. Hillaker: Derek Williams, Kevin Ouvry, Jeremy Taylor, Jerry Hillaker, Gary Lowe and Craig Helwig. Honorary pallbearers are: Richard Hillaker and Al Lowe. Memorials may be made to Home and Hospice Advantage or Family Discretionary Fund. Russell is survived by his wife, Elaine; children: Jack (Rona) Hillaker of Cass City, Kathy (Lee) Taylor of Whitmore Lake; Karen (Ronald) Ouvry of Cass City, James (Susie) Hillaker of Cass City, Sherry (Gregory) Williams of Rockford; grandchildren: Jandi (Ryan) Baker, Jodi (Lance) Roark, Nathanael (Christy) Taylor, Jeremy (Kathleen) Taylor, Joshua (Bethany) Taylor, Brooke (Lane) Walker, Ashley (Kyle) Greenwood, Kevin Ouvry, Carrie Hillaker, Allison Hillaker, Emily Williams, Derek Williams; great grandchildren: Alexandra, Avery, Nathanael, Madelyn, Aiden, Cassie, Haley, Madison, Annabel, Devin, Gracy, Abby, Molly and Deacon; brother, Lorn (June) Hillaker of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Edward Hillaker; sister, Muriel Parrott.
Russell D. Hillaker, 86, of Cass City, died Friday, February 8, 2013 in Tendercare Nursing Facility with his family by his side. He was born April 2, 1926 at home in Argyle Township to William Albert and Elizabeth (Willerton) Hillaker. He married Elaine Shirley Lowe March 25, 1950 in Cass City. Russell served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Sanilac County Road Commission for 13 years. His last job of 28 years was with Croft Clara Lumber Yard retiring in 1992. Russell enjoyed raising Corriedale and Suffolk sheep. He was a woodworker and craftsman as well and enjoyed making things for his family. Russ loved collecting toy tractors and baseball hats and was always pleased to share his collection with family and friends. Russell enjoyed working in his flower gardens and watching the many birds around his home. Russell was a member of Cass City First Baptist Church.
