Biography

Shirley M Lister age 87 of Caseville died Tuesday morning, August 18, at Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon. She was born January 9, 1928, in Detroit to the late Frederick and Lorraine (Brown) Bolton She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Cooley High School in 1946. On May 14, 1949, she was united in marriage to William Sherman Lister at St Mary’s of Redford in Detroit. They raised their family in Detroit until 1967, when they moved to Lake Township. As the children got older, Shirley began waitressing at the Bella Vista, where she worked for near 15 years. Then she worked at Winders Products in Port Austin for 10 years and from there she was the baker at the Caseville IGA. But the job that gave her the most joy was when she was a foster grandmother at the Caseville Public School, which she did until last year (at age 86) when her health began to fail. Shirley enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word search, reading the National Enquirer, gardening, fishing from her little boat and spending some of her winters in Florida. She loved having family and friends around and the company of her little dog, Mindy and cat, Louie.
