Funeral Information

Funeral mass for Shirley Youngblood will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin. Visitation will be at the Knoblock Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 pm and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral Mass at 11:00 Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery. There will be a rosary by the Holy Rosary Sodality on Tuesday at 4:00 in the funeral Home.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Dan and her children: Kathy Youngblood of Bloomfield Hills, Raymond Youngblood of Fairgrove, Ronald (Christine) Youngblood of West Palm Gardens, FL., and one grandson, Paul Youngblood. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters: Edward Schaffstein, Delores Nagel, Elaine (William) Francis, Rita (Michael) Salembier, Margaret (John) Franze , her brother-in-law Tom Glowczewski and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Alvin, Gerald and William, as well as one sister, June Weier, and her sister-in-law Janet Glowczewski and brother-in-law Richard Youngblood.

Biography

Shirley Youngblood, 80, of Port Austin, died May 21, 2017 at Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. She was born on August 23, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Alvin and Margaret Traynor, Schaffstein. She and Daniel Youngblood were married on May 4, 1963 at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Park. They moved from Detroit to Port Austin in 1994. Shirley was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin and the Ladies Holy Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the American Legion Frank Horetski Post 499 Auxillary and the U & I Club. She enjoyed working at church functions, bingo and playing cards.
